  Looking Back I don't think anything really changed for me. The topic that stood out the most to me was the accessibility since I did not know about all the advances that were made since the pandemic. I think a lot of those changes and updates were made because of the increased technology use during the pandemic. Something I know I will have to continue to ask the kids about as they come in is what else has changed in accessibility and is there anything I can do with the technology that we use in order to help them with their programs better.  What I Think I am all for using technology in programming with the teens. I want to follow their lead since they are feeling burned out after the pandemic and school still using Chromebooks for everything. I am trying to host a few programs where they are interacting with technology through me. On the weekends once school starts, I'm hoping to see how they feel about using technology during some of the programs as well. I hope they are ...

  Surgeon General The first link that I looked at was from thesocialinstitute.com and it looked at the new Surgeon General warning that 13 might be too young for kids to be on social media. This article points out what many are already starting to figure out and others are by passing, that it is not exactly realistic. Most social media sites require a minimum age of 13 to sign up to begin with. Which also leads to many lying about their age to get on. But the important thing is, most 13 and up students already have a social media account. They have probably been using it for quite a while and it might be the only way they can keep in contact with some friends already.   Data Mine I think this is a skill that should be taught, if only because it would force more sites to take down their paywall and help everyone understand what is happening when they are being vetted for a job or some sort of position in an organization. This should be up to the parents because if a teacher or counselor did it, they would then be in charge of keeping students' information private as well as their own. They could also see things that would possibly make them treat students differently based on the information that comes up. As a teacher, I was not allowed to see where my students lived, where they worked if they had a job, relatives (except for those that were allowed to sign them out or point of contact for discussion about the student), and I certainly did not have access to any criminal record if one existed. Personality Test 1 personal screenshot from projects.fivethirtyeight.com According to FiveThirtyEight , I am very open to different experiences, highly agreeable, conscientious, have some negative emotionality, and have low extraversion. I don't believe in personality tests but find them interesting to take. I do like different experiences and will try anything at least once. If I decide I do not like the experience, I will not do it again. I am not highly agreeable. I was bullied in school because I did well in school. I did not have strong relationships with peers and to this day it takes a lot for me to feel comfortable building those relationships. I am detail orientated but it is more in terms of seeing things others do not because I am paying attention to everything. Otherwise I will try to get outside the box as often as I can.   personal infographic Accessibility in Education I student taught during the pandemic. For the most part, everything went back to basics. We lectured over Zoom or Teams instead of discussions-based learning. Everything was done over PowerPoint and uploaded to an online classroom afterwards. For a lot of students, this made lessons more accessible and more comprehensible. A lot of students who had IEPs and 504 plans thrived with the online learning since they were able to have access to lessons as well as more resources to help them. Many of the students that chose to complete the semester in the hybrid model or came back to the school, fell behind because of the type of learning that was being done. Everything was online, even if the students were in the classroom with me. Most schools now do not offer online learning whatsoever.   image source: McCrindle, 2023 Infographic According to this infographic, I fall into Generation Z. My friends also fall into Generation Z. When I checked Google, the Library of Congress Research Guide defines Gen Z as being born between the ages of 1997 and 2012. Based off the infographic from McCrindle, I would say it is off by a few years. I often see more Generation Alpha using TikTok and not many from Gen Z using it. I think our usage of Instagram is higher. The second page of the infographic is also off. The years do not completely match up with the social markers, iconic cars, and music devices. It is interesting to see that the graphic says a vast majority of the workforce is Generation Y but I know my friends and I have encountered far more Generation X and Baby Boomers in the workforce. It is also partly why it is difficult for us to get jobs since those generations are retiring later or taking on part time jobs to help supplement their income.  Research Statistics...
